Brace for more price increases

Come January 2018*, Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) plans to increase the passenger service charge at KLIA2 from currently RM50 to RM73 (the rate charged at KLIA) for all international flights beyond Southeast Asia, to promote fairer competition between airport operators in the country.

Meanwhile, the PSC for flights within Southeast Asia remains at RM35 at all airports nationwide. The last time the PSC was increased was January 2017.

Everyone departing from Malaysian airports will also be subjected to a levy of RM1 imposed by MAVCOM come 2018*. This will apply to all departing passengers on domestic and international flights, with the exception of rural air services to the interiors of Sabah and Sarawak.

* Implementation date to be confirmed.
