Malaysia’s first syariah-compliant airline, Rayani Air launched its maiden flight from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi this morning.
Rayani Air Flight RN0600 took off at 1000 hours, from the KL International Airport (KLIA2), ferrying 150 passengers, including 18 orphans from the Taufik Islami Institute in Klang, Selangor and media.
The Langkawi-based airline is a full-service airline, which includes up to 20kgs baggage allowance and halal in-flight meals and beverages. Rayani Air requires Muslim women cabin crew to wear hijab and prayers (doa) are recited before the departure of each flight.
Rayani Air plans to fly to Kota Baru, KLIA2, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu in phase 1, with more routes including Umrah and Hai flights within the next few years.
Rayani Air currently has 355 employees on its payroll with eight pilots and 50 crew.
